Are
you into cutting edge design, fashion and style?
Like to experience what is rather than what
was? If so, read on. Your first stop will be
one of Australia's top tropical playgrounds
- the glitzy Gold Coast. No matter your typical
energy level, you'll probably want to spend
at least a couple of days recovering from the
lengthy commute to get here. Fortunately, we've
got the place, a boutique resort called Palazzo
Versace. The name is no coincidence - this opulent
property was created by Donatella herself in
honor of her late brother, Gianni. If
you like Italian design, you'll love Palazzo
as virtually every element has the Versace touch,
from the massive marble columns in the lobby
to Gianni's own artwork which lines many of
the public corridors. While in residence, unwind
by the pool or be pampered at the Salus per
Aquum spa. Outside of your exclusive enclave,
there is plenty of action when you want it.
Activities range from serious golf (40 courses),
to theme parks, adrenaline sports, and casino
gambling. And let's not overlook the Gold Coast's
most attractive attribute - 40 miles of uninterrupted
beautiful white sand!
Following
a few days of sand and sea, you'll jump into
your Saab 9-3 convertible and take a short drive
to the hinterland, a mountainous inland region
compromised of lush rainforests and small villages.
This is the perfect place to reconnect with
the natural world. Don't fret, however, your
comfort will not be compromised! Your base for
exploration will be the Crystal Creek Rainforest
Retreat, an intimate property situated within
a 350 acre private rainforest. With
room for only seven couples (and no children
allowed), you'll be able to indulge in the great
outdoors without distraction. Days can be spent
learning about the environment, visiting artistic
little villages, or simply laying in a hammock
while absorbing the sounds and smells of the
jungle. The stylish, architect-designed bungalow
accommodations offer complete privacy, glass
walls, large decks and Jacuzzi tubs. Being in
the jungle has rarely been so appealing!
Once
you have had your fill of giant ferns and exotic
birds, it's time for a more urban adventure.
Next stop - the cosmopolitan city of Sydney.
Whatever your tastes, you'll find it here. From
hot restaurants to cool boutiques, Sydney will
keep you engaged at all hours of the day or
night. As a first time visitor, you'll want
to check out the harbour, Rocks district, opera
house and central business district. Like many
of the world's top cities, one of Sydney's greatest
appeals lies in the diversity of its neighborhoods.
To uncover what's new, make your way to Darlinghurst
or Surry Hills, home to hip cafes, funky shops,
and edgy galleries. Have
dinner one night at Billy Kwong's, a fun and
fashionable spot for modern Chinese cuisine.
When it's time for a little shuteye, head back
to the Establishment, a boutique luxury hotel
that successfully meshes modern design with
historical architecture. And with some of the
city's trendiest restaurants and bars right
on site, you may not even need to venture out
for a night of entertainment.
For
contemporary luxury, look no further than Chic
Oz.
