You'll
arrive in Naples, perhaps weary from your journey
but excited for what you are about to encounter
- decadent hospitality and views on the coast,
excitement in the islands, and tranquility in
the countryside. Offering some of the best accommodations
experiences in Italy, this honeymoon takes you
from the magnificent Amalfi Coast, to chic Capri,
to the rolling hills of Tuscany. Get ready for
an unforgettable experience…
In
Naples you'll be met by your private driver who
will whisk you south along the dramatic Amalfi
Coast, a gorgeous 90 minute drive to impossibly
perched villages on the backs of 1000 foot
cliffs. Along the coast are numerous lovely
hotels, but you'll be staying at Il San Pietro
just outside Positano, chosen specifically for
its magnificent sea views, private beach, and
beautiful rooms. A perfect place to ease into
your honeymoon on a quest for the perfect vista!
Start off with a bit of pampering at Il San
Pietro’s spa, then soak up the sun and views
poolside. When night falls, your table will be
waiting at the hotel's Michelin-starred
restaurant -- would you expect less of a Relais
& Châteaux property? When you are ready for some
activity, you can meander the narrow streets of
Positano or Amalfi, attend a classical music
concert up in Ravello, or explore the lost city
of Pompeii, next to Mt. Vesuvius. Before
leaving the coast, be sure to dine at Le
Sirenuse's La Sponda restaurant, one Positano's
most elegant and romantic eateries.

After a few days, you may be intoxicated but
your desire for more activity beckons. You'll take a ferry to the island of Capri,
famous for its dramatic coastline, blue waters
and of course, the European glitterati who frequent
this island haven. Capri draws you in, with
its lovely medieval piazza and alleyways, and it
captures you in its web with its fantastic
restaurants, electric atmosphere and
unbelievable shopping - bring multiple credit
cards!
If
you tire of the energy, don't worry - the west
side of the island, called Anacapri, is perfect
for a relaxing afternoon of discovery, a light
hike, or tranquil coastal scenery. A wonderful
way to pass a day here is to hire a driver, in
an adorable convertible taxi, for 4-5 hours of
exploration and sights. While here you'll stay
at the brand new JK Place Capri, perched atop a
stunning cliff overlooking the sea, where you'll
feel the energy and essence of the isle like no
other location.
Your
honeymoon so far has been all about the views,
and its continuation is no exception, although
they are different. Back to Naples to catch a
train to Florence (the truly adventurous may
wish to join all the Michael Schumacher
wannabees and drive direct from Naples), where
you'll pick up a rental car for your foray into
Tuscany. The charming Podere Dionora is a
contrast to JK Place Capri, however it makes
complete sense in the context of your current
surroundings. Rolling hills, vineyards, green
farmland, streams and lakes demand your
attention. As you sit down to every meal, you'll
know that your gourmet feast came from the
beautiful and fertile area - perhaps even the
backyard!
An
absolute must is a day of wine touring with a
driver (so you can taste all you wish and avoid
becoming lost) - stop at Bottega di Volpaia for
a great country lunch en route! Biking,
horseback riding, medieval Siena and perhaps a
trip to the Prada outlet are in the cards here -
how will you ever enjoy it all in one visit?
You'll
return home from Florence having relaxed and
experienced some of the best this country has
to offer. The only question is - for your subsequent
anniversaries, should you return to the very
same and wonderful places, or branch off in
different directions? Ah, this is the beauty
and the difficulty of Italy - there are no bad
choices, just decisions!
Who
will enjoy this trip:
Couples who wish to begin their trip in true
relaxation and luxury, and gradually become
more active. Lovers of food and wine. If view
is important to you, this honeymoon will not
disappoint.
Who
should avoid this trip:
If you are traveling in August you may want
to think twice about going to Capri - the crowds
can be unbearable. Those who wish to incorporate
more history and culture should spend time in
Italy's great cities. For beach lovers, Sardinia
would be better, or perhaps another location
altogether.
