- each offering a different but equally enticing
experience.
Silversea's
ships are tailor-made for service and luxury.
The attentiveness to detail is simply amazing,
the food outstanding, the cabins spacious -
most with private verandahs. There is a good
mix of casual, informal and formal dining during
each voyage. A la carte dining and open seating
ensures you have the time and space to be together.
The staff are warm and engaging, and you'll
soon find yourselves called by name, and your
drink preferences memorized. Also enjoy the
first class entertainment, spas, and special
lectures provided to guests at no additional
charge. Itineraries vary by destination and
length - decide what you'd like to see and there's
probably an option. You can explore all of the
Med or focus on a particular region such as
the Greek Islands, the Italian Coast or the
French Riviera.
An
alternative is to take a Windstar Cruise, which
also provides a small ship experience, but utilizes
gorgeous sails that take advantage of the wind
(when possible). These cruises are more casual
in nature - no dressy clothes required!
Open
seating and personal service are the norm, making
it an ideal setting to interact with staff,
as well as meet other interesting people, if
you so choose. Extended hours in port allow
for unrushed onshore dining or more thorough
exploration of the countryside - you'll even
have time to rent a car if you want. The overall
adventurous and casual nature of Windstar means
the average age of the traveler is lower - generally
not considered an "over 70" type of
cruise. As is the case with Silversea, itineraries
vary significantly… pick your destinations
of interest and then climb aboard!
Both
lines will allow you to see more off the beaten
path destinations, both provide excellent service
and both will give you a wonderful cruising
experience which is relaxing and memorable.
You just need to pick the destinations you want
to visit and the type of onboard amenities that
are important - there will surely be an option
that meets your requirements.
Who
will enjoy this trip
Those who are interested in a variety of sights,
sounds and smells - visits to ports of call
that larger ships may be unable to access. Those
who want a cruise experience that feels more
"international" in nature.
Who should avoid this trip
Those who are looking for a big ship experience
(greater than 1000 people). Those who would
rather not travel all the way to Europe to enjoy
their cruise.
