Destination Weddings

What is a "destination wedding" and is it right for you?

Have you dreamed of walking together to the altar barefoot on a tropical beach? How about at sea aboard a luxury cruise ship? These are both examples of "destination weddings".

In its most basic form, a destination wedding simply involves getting married away from home. In most cases, the setting is quite intimate as only close friends and family are asked to attend. Popular spots include Hawaii, the Caribbean, Italy, Greece, Fiji and, of course, Las Vegas!

If the idea of a destination wedding sounds intriguing, what steps will you need to take to figure out if its "right" for you?

I'm just getting my feet wet... I'm ready to get going...

Step 1 - Determine if you are really a candidate

To help you work through this issue, we have prepared a list of relevant questions and issues. Sit down with your significant other and spend a few moments discussing each point. You should come away with a better understanding of what a destination wedding will involve. Click here to read more.

Step 2 - Understand the overall planning process

If a destination wedding seems like a good fit with your interests, you will want to get a better feel for the planning process. What needs to take place to pull an event like this together? To review the main planning components, click here.

Step 3 - Choose your destination

Assuming you are comfortable with steps one and two, figuring out where to go is on the top of most couple's lists. Of course, doing so is not as easy as it seems. Number of guests, time of year, budget, weather, and travel preferences will all have an impact on what's feasible and what's not. To get you off on the right foot, we have put together a brief guide, which can be viewed by clicking here.

The above steps only touch on the overall process of creating a destination wedding. As a general rule of thumb, complexity (and cost) increase in line with travel distance and number of guests. At MoonRings, we have developed a fun, efficient and (relatively) stress-free process for putting together memorable destination weddings.
