This incredible honeymoon is for those with a
full two weeks to spend, split between three
remarkable islands. You will begin your trip on
lovely Kauai, then move to lively Maui, and
finally end on diverse Hawaii (the Big Island).
First
stop is what many consider to be Hawaii's most
beautiful island - Kauai. Its
traditional feel and laid back nature make it
an ideal spot to relax, unwind and simply
spend time with your new partner.
Upon arrival, pick up your Jeep Wrangler, drop
the top, and head to the lively southern coast.
Here you will find the elegant Grand Hyatt
Kauai, your home for the next four days. This
large property is an idyllic place to ease into
your honeymoon – float along the lazy river,
play a round of championship golf at the Poipu
Bay Golf Course, get a massage at the fabulous
Anara Spa and wake up early and sit on your
lanai to watch the sunrise (the time change may
have you waking up earlier than usual). Even
though the resort has plenty to do for days on
end, it's worthwhile to venture out and see a
bit of the island. One of the best ways to get
an "overview" of Kauai is via helicopter, which
will allow you to see areas unreachable by any
other means. Another highlight is the rugged and
beautiful Na Pali Coast, best viewed from the
deck of a catamaran. Not simply a boat ride, you
will have the opportunity for some terrific
snorkeling along the way. Finally, nothing
embodies Kauai like a frolic under a secluded
jungle waterfall. In this case, getting there
is half the fun - you will take a leisurely hike
through the forest (about an hour), then upon
reaching a river, you will kayak the rest of the
way.
Now,
refreshed and relaxed after your stay on Kauai, you are ready for the more
social island
of Maui. Take a quick inter-island flight, pick up your
convertible car, and drive south to
the always-sunny Wailea area. This
is where you will find the Fairmont Kea Lani, a
striking white resort that has a strong
Mediterranean flavor. In addition to being on one
of the best beaches on Maui and providing a full
range of 5-star amenities, the property surpasses
many of its neighbors by offering all suites. If
you like space to spread out, this is your resort!
When not at the property, the Wailea area is
perfect for taking advantage of Maui's water
activities - try snorkeling at the Molokini Crater
or taking a whale-watching excursion
One
of the most popular activities on Maui is to drive
the incredible "road to Hana," which twists through
lush tropical jungle, in and out of gorges, past
roadside waterfalls and through laid-back country
villages. While most visitors must wake up early
in order to complete the drive in a single day,
you will have time to meander your way there. Why?
Because you'll be spending two thoroughly relaxing
days and nights in Hana at Hotel Hana, a small,
secluded hotel surrounded by a 7,000-acre ranch.
Your accommodations will be in a lovely cottage,
complete with private Jacuzzi. Besides
relaxation, the resort also offers a nice range of
diversions, from horseback riding to a full
spa.
The
last stop on this exciting journey together
is the interesting island of Hawaii, known for
its black sand beaches, active volcanoes and
incredibly diverse landscape. After arriving at
the Kona airport, pick up your Jeep and head
straight for the Four Seasons Resort at Hualalai,
arguably the top resort in all of Hawaii. You
will be staying in a spacious, bungalow-style
room with a wonderful view of the ocean.
There's no better place to spend your last four
nights. The Big Island is, well, big, so
there's a lot worth
exploring should you be in the mood. One of
the highlights, if you are into natural wonders,
is Hawaii
Volcanoes National Park, which contains two
active volcanoes (of which one is likely to
be erupting), sub-arctic tundra, desert and rainforest!
There's exploring to be done at night too -
take a stargazing tour to the top of Mauna Kea (13,796ft.) where you
will have the opportunity to watch the sun set,
then observe the night sky with the help of a professional guide.
From romantic hotels to pristine beaches to
exciting activities, you will return home having
experienced Hawaii to the fullest!
